Experience letter for a security guard

Security agencies, housing societies, malls and factories issue experience letters when guards move to a new agency, apply for supervisor posts or seek Gulf employment. Agencies registered under PSARA and Gulf recruiters look for site type, duties, shift pattern and a clean conduct record.

To whom it may concern,

This is to certify that Mr. Shibu Thomas (Employee No. SG-0412) was employed with Safeguard Security Services Pvt. Ltd. (PSARA Licence No. KL/2019/123) as Security Guard from 1 March 2021 to 31 October 2026, and was promoted to Security Supervisor on 1 April 2024.

He was posted at Oberon Mall, Kochi, and later at Lakeview Apartments, Kakkanad, where he handled gate control, visitor and vehicle entry registers, CCTV monitoring, night patrolling and emergency response, working in 12-hour rotating shifts. As supervisor he managed a team of 8 guards.

His conduct was good, he was punctual and alert, and no complaint or disciplinary action was recorded against him. He is leaving on his own request for employment abroad. All dues are settled.

What it must include

  • Agency name and PSARA licence number (if an agency)
  • Sites posted, type (residential, mall, industrial) and duties
  • Shift pattern and whether armed/unarmed
  • Promotions, team size if supervisor
  • No complaint / disciplinary record line
  • Signature with seal and contact for verification

Common mistakes

  • Society or mall issuing the letter when the guard was on an agency's payroll — the agency must issue it.
  • No PSARA number; new agencies check it.
  • Dates not matching the ESI/PF record.

Stamp paper, notary and signing

No stamp paper. Agency or society letterhead with seal. For Gulf jobs, get it attested by a notary and then the MEA / embassy after the employer signs.

Common questions

Guard employed directly by a society — who signs?

The society's secretary, on society letterhead with seal, mentioning that the guard was on the society's own payroll.

Is PSARA training mentioned?

If the guard completed the agency's PSARA training, add a line with the training period; it helps in Gulf and corporate hiring.

Can an ex-serviceman's service record replace this?

For armed-forces service, the discharge book is the record; this letter covers private security work after that.
