Experience letter for a graphic designer

Agencies and studios issue experience letters when a designer leaves for another job, freelancing or studies abroad. For creative roles, naming the tools (Photoshop, Illustrator, Figma, Premiere) and the kind of work (brand identity, social media, print, motion) matters more than a generic description.

To whom it may concern,

This is to certify that Ms. Reshma Varghese was employed with Concept Carton Technologies Private Limited, Kochi, as Graphic Designer from 10 August 2022 to 31 October 2026, and held the position of Senior Graphic Designer at the time of leaving.

Her work included brand identity and logo design, social-media creatives and reels for automotive and hospitality clients, print collateral (brochures, hoardings, dealership signage) and motion graphics. She worked primarily in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects and Figma, and led a team of two junior designers from 2025.

She is creative, reliable and good with client feedback. She resigned to take up a position abroad and was relieved after serving her notice period. All dues have been settled.

What it must include

  • Designation at joining and at leaving
  • Kind of work: branding, social, print, motion, UI
  • Tools and software
  • Client sectors or notable projects (without breaching NDAs)
  • Team or leadership responsibilities
  • Director / HR signature with seal and email for verification

Common mistakes

  • Only "designer" with no tools or type of work.
  • Naming confidential client projects the agency's NDA covers.
  • Not stating full-time hours when the letter is for immigration.

Stamp paper, notary and signing

No stamp paper. Letterhead with CIN; some overseas employers and immigration consultants ask for the signatory's designation and contact details on the letter.

Common questions

Freelancers — who gives this?

Each client can give a letter describing the project and period; or use contracts and invoices. A studio that engaged you on retainer can use this format.

Can it mention awards or published work?

Yes, briefly; it strengthens the letter.

Portfolio or experience letter — which matters more?

Both. Studios hire on the portfolio; HR and visa officers need the letter.
