Stamp paper, notary and signing
No stamp paper. On the society's letterhead with seal. Banks usually want it dated within 30 days. For a flat sale, most states' cooperative rules say the society cannot refuse an NOC if dues are clear; a transfer fee may apply.
Common questions
The society is refusing — what can I do?If dues are clear, write a formal request citing the state cooperative societies act; in Maharashtra and Kerala the registrar can direct the society. Many banks also accept a self-undertaking plus share certificate if the society is slow.
Is this the same as a society NOC for renovation? No. That is a separate letter permitting interior work; use the generator and change the purpose.
Apartment association (not a cooperative) — same letter?Yes; replace registration number with the association's registration under the Societies Registration Act or the state apartment act.
