NOC letter for higher studies (from employer)

Universities running executive, part-time or sponsored programmes (executive MBA, M.Tech for working professionals, PhD part-time) ask for an NOC from the employer confirming you are working and permitted to study alongside.

Subject: No Objection Certificate — Mr. Vishnu Prasad, Executive PGP 2026-28

This is to certify that Mr. Vishnu Prasad (Employee ID 0412) has been working with Marine Exports India Limited as Assistant Manager – Operations since 10 October 2020.

The company has no objection to Mr. Vishnu Prasad enrolling in the Executive Post Graduate Programme (2026-28) at your institute and attending its contact sessions as per the schedule. He will continue in employment during the course.

The company is not sponsoring the programme fee; this certificate is issued at his request.

What it must include

  • Addressed to the institute
  • Programme name and batch / duration
  • Employee's designation and date of joining
  • Whether the employer sponsors the fee or grants study leave
  • Signature of HR head or department head

Common mistakes

  • Not stating whether sponsorship or leave is granted (institutes ask).
  • Programme name different from the admission letter.
  • Issued after the admission deadline — ask HR early.

Stamp paper, notary and signing

No stamp paper. Letterhead and seal. Many institutes have their own NOC form — fill theirs if given, else use this.

Common questions

Will this count as sponsorship?

No. Sponsorship means the company pays or treats it as part of your work. The sample says clearly the company is not sponsoring; change it if they are.

Can I get an NOC for a full-time course?

Only if the employer grants study leave or you are resigning; otherwise an NOC makes no sense for a full-time programme.

Is a relieving letter needed instead?

If you are leaving the job to study, the institute wants a relieving or experience letter, not an NOC.
