Subject: Authorization to submit application and collect documents — vehicle KL-07-CX-4321
I, Pradeep Nair, son of Mohan Nair, residing at 22 Panampilly Nagar, Kochi 682036, holding Aadhaar no. XXXX XXXX 2345, am the registered owner of Maruti Suzuki Baleno, registration no. KL-07-CX-4321.
As I am currently abroad, I authorise Mr. Arun Krishnan, my brother-in-law, holding PAN ABCPK1234F, to submit on my behalf the application for removal of hypothecation (Form 35 with the bank's NOC), to pay the fees, to furnish any clarification, and to collect the updated Registration Certificate.
All forms have been signed by me. Copies of my passport and his PAN card are enclosed. This authorisation is valid until 31 December 2026.
Signed
Pradeep Nair (owner) · Arun Krishnan (authorised person)

Stamp paper, notary and signing
No stamp paper for most RTOs. If the owner is abroad, some RTOs ask for the letter to be notarised or attested by the Indian Embassy; for sale/transfer of ownership a registered power of attorney may be insisted on. Ask the RTO or check parivahan.gov.in for your state.
Common questions
Can an agent (not family) be authorised?Yes; many RTO agents work on such letters. Name them and their ID exactly.
For vehicle sale, is a letter enough?Buyer and seller sign Forms 29/30; a representative can file them with this letter, but some RTOs want a registered POA if the seller is absent abroad.
Can I do it online instead? Many services (NOC, hypothecation removal, address change) are now on parivahan.gov.in with Aadhaar e-KYC and need no visit at all.
