How the estimate works
Each monthly instalment is assumed to grow at the expected yearly return, compounded monthly, until the end of the period. The table shows how much you have put in versus what it has become, year by year.
What return to expect
- Large-cap equity funds have historically averaged around 10–12% a year over long periods; debt funds 6–8%. Past returns do not guarantee future ones.
- Use a conservative number and treat the result as a planning estimate, not a promise.
- Step-up SIPs (raising the amount every year as your salary grows) roughly double the final corpus over 15–20 years compared with a flat SIP.
Common questions
Is the result guaranteed?
No. Mutual fund returns vary every year; this is a projection at a fixed assumed rate.
Are taxes included?
No. Long-term capital gains tax applies when you redeem equity funds.
